Ch 118 - Parks

ARTICLE I - Bazaars in North Conway Park

[Article 23, adopted 3-11-58 by the Annual Town Meeting, reads as follows:

"To see if the Northeast corner of the North Conway Park shall be used for the holding of Bazaars by those organizations that have been allowed to use it in the past, for non-profit purposes, with no one organization having use of the Park for a period exceeding fourteen days."]

ARTICLE II - Carnivals in SchoulerPark

[Article 16, adopted 3-8-84 by the Annual Town Meeting, reads as follows:

"To see if the Town will vote to adopt a Town by-law (ordinance) which would prohibit the conducting of any and all commercial activity involving the use of mechanical amusement rides or apparatus in or upon any real property owned by the Town of Conway." An amendment during the Annual Town Meeting resulted in Article 16 being adopted so that it reads as follows: "To see if the Town wishes to continue to allow carnival type activities in Schouler Park under the guidance and supervision of the Park Commissioners and Town Selectmen."]

ARTICLE III - Whitaker Woods

[Adopted 3/84]

118-1. Restricted and prohibited activities

The following activities are prohibited in Whitaker Woods, at North Conway, New Hampshire, a park

of the town:

  1. Use of motor vehicles, including but not limited to all auto-mobiles, trucks, snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles, jeeps, minibikes, motorcycles and all other motorized vehicles, but excluding here from those vehicles used for maintenance, improvements and/or patrol as authorized by the Selectmen.
  2. Kindling and/or keeping of open fires.
  3. Camping.
  4. Shooting with any weapon or firearm on or into said property shall not be allowed except under the supervision of a conservation officer or a Conway Police Officer.

118-2. Violations and penalties.

Any person or firm found violating the provisions hereof shall be fined not in excess of one thousand dollars ($1000) for each offense with the same to inure to the general fund of the town.

article  IV - Hours of Operation

118-3. Hours set for town-held properties.

  1. The following town-held properties are to be open for general public use consistent with other laws and regulations control-ling the same from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. next following of each day:
    1. Conway Lake Beach, Center Conway Village.
    2. First Bridge River Access Conservation Area, North Conway.
    3. Smith-Eastman Recreation Area, Redstone Village.
    4. Redstone Park, Redstone Village.
    5. Davis Park and Beach, Conway Village.
    6. Washington Street Park, Conway Village.
    7. Conway Library Park, Conway Village.
    8. Whitaker Woods, North Conway Village.
    9. Puddin Pond, North Conway Village.
  2. The following town-held properties are to be open for general public use consistent with other laws and regulations control-ling the same, from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. next following of each day:
    1. Schouler Park, North Conway Village.
  3. At all other hours of each day, said above-named, town-held properties shall be closed to public use unless specially authorized in writing by the Board of Selectmen.

118-4. Violations and penalties.

Anyone violating these regulations shall be chargeable with violation under New Hampshire law.
